Who is Andrea Segovia?
Andrea was selected as the 2016 Elementary Marian Greenblatt Master Award Teacher winner and was 1 of 3 finalists for the 2016 Montgomery County Public Schools Teacher of the Year.

Andrea has been working for Montgomery County Public Schools since 2009 and has privately and small-group tutored students in Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 Math classes, as well as IM Math, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2.

What is Andrea's Educational Philosophy?
As an educator, Andrea has a strong passion to educate young minds in a safe, inquiry-based, exploratory environment. Her goal is to have students join her on a journey that will allow them to develop into critical thinkers who seek challenge in a 21st century world. Her passion and love for developing not only the academic side of a learner, but also the social-emotional side, supports students to develop a deep love and respect for themselves and others. She believes in planning for instruction around student interests in order to foster intrinsic motivation and stimulate a passion to learn. She incorporates a diverse array of teaching methodologies and techniques in order to enthusiastically engage each and every student in achieving their academic success and develop their self-confidence. With these skills, students will understand their potential to embrace their dreams and turn them into reality.
